Contest 2008 |

KIT third year student of Architecture and Design, MATSUNO Yuka was pleased
to be awarded first place for her hair care product design at the October
Chushin Design Contest for Kyoto Area Students. Other third year KIT students
recognized at this time were TAKADA Mariko, NAGAI Akinori and MORITOMO
Koyuki, also of the Architecture and Design Program. They received three
of the five awards for outstanding effort for their respective designs;
Kyoto Hitotsu (packaging for an exclusive brand of Japanese sweets), a
Nishijin Textile Bank Book Case and hand care cosmetics packaging.
The competition, at which two honorable mentions were also awarded, was sponsored by Kyoto Chuo Shinyo Kinko Bank and held October 16 to 17 at the Kyoto Prefecture Trade Fair Exhibition Hall, Fushimi “Pulse Plaza” in conjunction with the 2008 Chushin Business Fair. This call for product package design for ”Kyo-mono” (Items, Kyoto-esque) and “Kyoto Brand” products elicited 37 entries. The contest, a first for Chushin, aimed to promote regional products from small and mid-size companies, discover creative and innovative talent among Kyoto’s student-designers and perform a business matchmaking service through the joint industry/university program.
The KIT Cooperative Research Center booth drew an enthusiastic crowd at the fair with its display of information and work produced at the “Traditional Crafts Taikenkobo” (Try Your Hand At) Center in Kyoto by Nakano Yoshito Design Studio students. |
