A party was held in a Kyoto area hotel on December 18th 2009 to provide an opportunity for KIT international students, and all the persons in and around the university who support them, to become better acquainted. This annual event also provides an opportunity for the president to gather feedback and for the exchange of opinions regarding our programs. In this non-academic setting, international students can become acquainted with university staff and the dignitaries who represent their governments. President Ejima welcomed ambassadors from Consulate Generals located in the Kyoto/Osaka/Kobe metropolitan area, as well as individuals from community groups who support our students.
This year was all the merrier thanks to the company of the president, faculty and staff, and international students from Kyoto Notre Dame University with whom KIT entered a comprehensive agreement in June of 2009.
The KIT orchestra provided a colorful opening to the festivities. President Ejima gave his address, followed by a speech by consulate representative, Dr. Wan Gin Chao the education minister from the People’s Republic of China Osaka Consulate. President Yabuuchi Minoru of Kyoto Notre Dame University, delivered the toast to the more than 200 guests whose attention was later drawn to such volunteer student entertainment as the KIT international students’ shadow dance and the choral performance by their counterparts from Kyoto Notre Dame University. All the KIT international students then sang “We Are the World”. The evening ended with a speech by the representative of the KIT international students.
