The summer weather hasn’t put a stop to reports of infection of the new strain of influenza On August 5th, we received word that a KIT graduate student (Macromolecular Science and Engineering) was diagnosed and has been restricted to home. Students and faculty having close contact with this student have been assessed and no one appears to have contracted the virus. At present, all events and summer lectures will continue as scheduled. We ask that students and faculty remain alert to the possibility of infection and observe precautionary measures.

Continue to practice vigilant hand washing and gargling to avoid contagion.

To minimize exposure to other persons, if you have a fever or cough or suspect you have influenza CALL your doctor or a medical clinic, before your visit, to confer about the time and protocol for an examination. We ask that you continue to take the precautions of covering your mouth when you cough and wearing a mask until you receive word from a medical professional that you are free of infection. If you are diagnosed with H1N1 Influenza; follow doctor’s orders, convalesce at home, avoid other persons, and report your diagnosis to the appropriate KIT office below. |
