In conjunction with other 60th anniversary campus improvements, KIT has
completed construction of a gathering place for alumni, the KIT Pavilion.
This innovative new structure is located immediately to the north of the
Matsugasaki campus. A ceremony of completion was held here on March 30. The
pavilion is on the same plot of land as the buildings known as Villa KIT(Kosen
Kaikan) and KIT Club. Together we refer to these three buildings as the
Matsugasaki KIT Park, a place where KIT and non-KIT persons alike, can
network and exchange views and information.
This architectural design is the work of KIT associate professor Akira
Kakuda who, at the end of 2008, received first place in the pavilion design
competition. The concept for this design synthesizes KIT principles and
accumulated history with the current influence and impact of KIT. Through
meaningful use as a hub for alumni/alumnae reunions, this pavilion is expected
to become a popular venue for networking among former students and contribute
to a more intimate relationship between KIT and the world at large. |
