| ■Students from the Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur Visit KIT■ |
|
On May 12, 2012, KIT welcomed 15 students from the Indian Institute of
Information Technology Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur (IIITDM-J) as
part of the Japanese government’s JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange
for Students and Youths) program, which is made possible through the coordination
of Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE). KIT professor of Mechanical
and System Engineering, Masayoshi Akiyama has led us in welcoming student
groups from IIITDM-J since 2009, making this the 4th year of the program.
In the morning, Assistant Professor Tomohiro Takaki, winner of the Gordon
Bell Award, the highest international recognition in the field of super
computers, gave these visiting students, and 5 students from KIT, a lecture
on his research and other related topics. The IIITDM-J students asked highly
pertinent questions and impressed us with their passion for the subject
matter. Following this, the combined group of 20 students eagerly conversed
over lunch. In the afternoon, they toured Kyoto and enjoyed dinner together
in the evening. We found both groups engaged in meaningful, animated conversation. |
