| ■KIT Physics Lectures for University of Twente Student Delegation■ |
|
A group of KIT physics professors planned a day of special lectures in
response to a request to visit KIT, from Dutch physics majors planning
a one month study tour to Japan. The student delegation from the University
of Twente, The Netherlands, arrived here on May 14th to attend these lectures.
Although KIT has no physics program per se, professors from various departments
involved in physics-related research cooperate for special seminars. The
day’s schedule included lectures on Raman scattering, Fusion Plasma Science
and Quantum Physics. In addition to lectures, a tour of the research laboratories
such as Control of Transport Phenomena and Superconducting Properties was
conducted and we were able to provide glimpses of physics at KIT from a
broad range of physics knowledge imparted at KIT. The students of Twente
University were highly attentive to all lectures and lab tours asking appropriate
questions and making astute comments. There was time for small talk between
Twente and KIT students during the lab tours and lunch. They exchanged
opinions, notes on cultural differences and other observations. |
