Dr. Jim Plummer from Stanford University visits KIT.

On August 25, 2015, Dr. Jim Plummer, an internationally recognized authority on electrical engineering and a former dean of the Stanford School of Engineering for 15 years visited KIT and met with President Furuyama.

Dr. Plummer visited Japan to give the keynote speech of the “International Symposium on Green Electronics” which was held at KIT on August 28th.

At the meeting with President Furuyama, Dr.Plummer explained how he launched the Institute of Design at Stanford University (d.school.) Specifically, he told about the original plan, the management strategy of the school and programs that are earning high praise not only from students but also from the corporations.

Dr. Yoshimoto and Dr. Kado joined him in an active discussion in which they as a university which offers both technological and design/architectural education, KIT has lot to learn from the programs of the d.school where students from different fields work as a team on problem identification. Then they find solutions through trial and error.

Dr. Plummer visited the KIT Design-lab and the KIT Museum and Archives and listened to our proposal regarding a collaborative relationship between the Stanford University and KIT.
