Re: Response to Kyoto Prefecture’s State of Emergency Measures
Following the declaration of a state of emergency in Kyoto Prefecture, the Kyoto Prefectural Government will be implementing emergency measures in preparation against the highly infectious “Delta variant” from August 20, 2021. The Kyoto Prefectural Government has also requested universities to take thorough infection prevention measures in order to control the spread of COVID-19.
In addition to the current measures being taken to prevent the spread of the infection, Kyoto Institute of Technology will be taking the following measures. Your understanding and cooperation for their thorough implementation is greatly appreciated.
A summary of KIT’s current measures can be found on the university’s website:
・Refrain from non-essential and non-urgent outings, including during the day (commuting to work or to school is excluded);
・Refrain from unnecessary traveling outside of Kyoto Prefecture;
・When using public transportation, refrain from talking whilst inside the vehicle;
・Do not undertake any actions that come with a high risk of infection, such as drinking alcohol in groups on the street or in parks;
・Refrain from visiting medical institutions or elderly care centers (new);
・Actively promote teleworking or staggered working hours, to the extent that it does not interfere with the performance of your duties;
・Avoid working after 8:00 pm (new);
・Refrain from eating and drinking with others before and after classes and extracurricular activities;
・Strongly refrain from visiting restaurants after the end of the requested shortened business hours;
・Do not hold gatherings (drinking parties) for clubs, circles etc.;
・Refrain from activities in large groups and from drinking and staying at friends’ lodgings;
・Refrain from talking with your mask off, including during meals;
・Regarding extracurricular activities, take thorough measures to prevent infection and avoid activities with a particularly high risk of infection;
・The Kyoto Institute of Technology Museum and Archives will remain closed from August 20 (new);
・University gates will be open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on weekdays and will remain closed at all other times.
In addition to the above measures, please continue to follow the “Kyoto Institute of Technology Manual on Limiting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Transmission”.
We ask for your continued cooperation in following the “Kyoto Institute of Technology Manual on Limiting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Transmission” and consistently implementing basic infection control measures. Avoid the “3Cs” (crowded places, close contact settings and closed spaces), maintain social distancing from others, wear a mask and wash and disinfect your hands. Also, actively practice the “new lifestyle” (limiting unnecessary contact with people, etc.) in order to protect your health and prevent others from becoming infected.
