On Friday, February 13, 2026, a delegation from Chiang Mai University (CMU, Thailand), led by Vice President Ekkachai Mahaek, accompanied by Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Pandin Ounchanum, and faculty members in charge of the joint degree program, paid a courtesy visit to President Masahiro Yoshimoto.
Since the 2005 signing of our inter-university academic exchange agreement, CMU and KIT have maintained a close and productive partnership. Over the years, we have fostered active exchange among students and researchers, primarily through joint architecture workshops. This sustained collaboration culminated in 2017 with the launch of Japan’s first master’s-level joint degree program.
At the outset of the meeting, President Yoshimoto expressed his appreciation for the long-standing and dynamic exchange between our institutions. Noting the steady progress of the joint degree program, he reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening of the friendly and cooperative relationship. Vice President Mahaek then introduced recent inter-university cooperation initiatives in Thailand, which led to a lively and constructive exchange of views.
The Meeting in Progress
The most recent activity of the joint degree program was the architecture workshop held this month. This workshop was attended by faculty and students from CMU, KIT, and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT, Thailand) and concluded successfully, further reinforcing the strong academic ties among the participating institutions.
