KIT Electronics Summer School 2026 Concludes Successfully

The KIT Electronics Summer School 2026 was held from June 18 to July 3, 2026, over a two-week period.

Organized and led by Prof. TAKAHASHI Kazuo from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Electronics, this annual program celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. The event brought together 35 talented students from five countries: Cambodia, Germany, France, Kazakhstan, and Japan (KIT students).

【This Year’s Theme: “力”】
The students formed teams with members of diverse nationalities and took on a hands-on project using the “Arduino” microcontroller board.
The theme for this year was the kanji character “力” (chikara/power and force). Teams of students from different backgrounds discussed how to interpret this concept and incorporate it into their creations. On the last day, at the final presentation, a wide array of highly creative projects was unveiled. The students approached the theme from multifaceted perspectives, interpreting “chikara” as not only physical force, but also emotional resilience, memory capability, and assistive technologies.

Prof. OKUBAYASHI Satoko, Vice President and Director of the International Center, attended the presentation and was deeply impressed by the students’ innovative ideas and the high quality of the projects built in such a short time.

【Cultural Exchange and Lifelong Friendships Beyond Borders】
Through the shared experience of monodukuri (manufacturing), the participants’ bonds grew stronger each day. Initially, the students tended to stay with peers from their own countries, but ultimately, they formed powerful, well-integrated teams and became close friends, transcending national boundaries.

We hope that the achievements made over these two weeks, along with the global friendships and experiences forged in Kyoto, will inspire all participants to deepen their understanding of cultural diversity and serve as valuable assets for their future endeavors.
