Kyoto Institute of Technology Selected for “Top Global University Project” Support Attached the file of the outline of our project (February 6, 2015).

The educational reform program of Kyoto Institute of Technology (KIT) entitled OPEN-TECH INNOVATION: An Initiative for Global, Social, and Regional Collaboration, has been selected for Top Global University Project (Type B: Global Traction Type) funding by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

The Top Global University Project will enhance international compatibility and competitiveness of higher education in Japan. This project is providing prioritized support for world-class and innovative universities that will lead Japanese university internationalization. Selected universities are expected to press forward with comprehensive internationalization and university reform.

Our program will be funded by MEXT for a ten year period. When the program reaches completion, KIT will have become a center of international and domestic research on engineering, a center of industry, and a gathering place for top researchers in education,

business representatives and engineers. We will ignite the emergence of innovation and establish an Asian Hub, within a worldwide network. At the same time, KIT will have developed into a core training institution for interculturally-aware Tech Leaders who will globalize the region and the foundations of industry in countries everywhere.

The program began in October, 2014 and will continue through March, 2024.
