On April 22, KIT concluded an academic agreement with the Mechanical Engineering Department of RWTH Aachen University, Federal Republic of Germany.
The 9 departments and 260 research laboratories of Aachen University are located in western Germany. Persons pursuing their studies there number roughly 38,000. Even among European universities, this institution is one with a long and distinguished history. Aachen University is an outstanding institution with regard to international exchange and conducts academic exchange with over 400 institutions of higher learning, over 10 of which are in Japan.
On the day of their visit, President Furuyama received a courtesy call from the Aachen University Director of the Institute for Textile Technology Engineering, Professor Thomas Gries, during which it was agreed that student exchange would be promoted in addition to the ongoing exchange of Textile and Fiber Science researchers.
