【学生体験談】
　私は、JoinTECH-Labにより、スロベニアのリュブリャナ大学に、約３か月滞在しました。リュブリャナ大学での滞在期間中は、日本で研究しているタンパク質と、同大学で研究されているクロマトグラフィー担体を組み合わせたアフィニティクロマトグラフィー用担体を開発しました。世界的に注目されている新規担体を実際に扱いながら研究できたことは、私にとって非常に貴重で、他では得られない経験でした。また、現地の学生が失敗に悩みつつも前向きに研究を楽しんでいる姿は、私に強い刺激を与えました。「結果が思うように出なくても、試行錯誤を楽しめる」という文化を間近に見たことで、私自身も研究に向き合う姿勢を見直すきっかけになりました。この留学経験を通して、困難を恐れずに挑戦する姿勢の大切さを実感し、研究へのモチベーションがより一層高まりました。
　スロベニアは自然が豊かで治安もとても良い国です。街並みは美しく、食事は美味しく、人々は親切でした。物価は日本とほぼ同じくらいで、果物が比較的安いという印象でした。特に白ぶどうや桃がとても美味しかったです。ワインも美味しく、友人の中には自分のワイナリーを持っている人も何人かいました。ワイナリーを訪問し、テイスティングも体験しました。「自分の好みのワインを造れることが魅力だ」と話しており、将来自分のワイナリーを持つのも素敵だなと思いました。
　また、リュブリャナは学生に優しい街で、大学の授業料は無料、さらに１日２回使える食事割引クーポンもあり、生活面でもとても助かりました。総じて、本当に生活しやすい街でした。
　週末には多くの国を旅行しました。私は、社会科が得意ではありませんでしたが、実際に様々な国を訪れたことで、地理や世界史への興味が自然と湧いてきました。世界史を自分で勉強しながら旅をするのは本当に楽しかったです。また、実際に多くの国を訪れるうちに、いままであまり興味がなかったスポーツ観戦についても、「知っている国と日本が試合をしていたら面白そうだ」と思うようになりました。

Student report:
I stayed at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia for about three months through the JoinTECH-Lab program. During my stay at the University of Ljubljana, I developed a resin for affinity chromatography by bringing a protein I was researching in Japan with a chromatography resin being researched at the university. Working with a new resin that is garnering global attention was an extremely valuable and unique experience for me. Seeing the local students’ positive attitude and enjoyment of their research, even when they struggled with failure, was also deeply inspiring. Seeing firsthand the culture of “enjoying trial and error even when the results aren’t what you expected,” gave me the opportunity to reevaluate my own approach to research. Through this study-abroad experience, I realized the importance of not being afraid of difficulties and taking on challenges, which further increased my motivation for research.
Slovenia is a country rich in nature and with very good public safety. The city is beautiful, the food is delicious, and the people are kind.
Prices are about the same as in Japan, and I got the impression that fruit is reasonably priced.
The white grapes and peaches were especially delicious. The wine was excellent, and several of my friends had their own wineries.
I visited a winery and sampled some. They said that having your own winery is appealing because you can make wine that tastes your way. I thought I would like to have my own winery in the future.
Ljubljana is also a student-friendly city, with free tuition and two meal discount coupons available each day, which was very helpful in terms of living expenses.
In summary, it was a really easy city to live in.
I traveled to many countries on weekends. I was not good at social studies, but actually traveling to many different countries helped me develop an interest in geography and world history. It was really fun traveling while studying world history on my own.
Also, I wasn’t interested in watching sports before, but after visiting many different countries, I started to think it would be interesting to watch Japan compete against countries I now know.
