【学生体験談】
　私はJoinTECH-Visitでスロベニアにあるリュブリャナ大学に約１か月留学し、研究を行いました。現地で行っていた研究はPoly HIPEというポリマーのカラム内に通電により銀の樹状突起を成長させ、そのカラムにチオール基を持つ様々な化合物を修飾し、機能化を行うことで、タンパク質の吸着の傾向を調べるという研究です。使用したことのない機器を使っての実験だったため、分かるようになるまでは非常に苦労しました。英語が聞き取れず、心が折れかけることもありましたが、機器の使い方から実験の仕方まで１からすべて英語で学ぶという貴重な経験ができました。
　また、私はこの留学プログラムに参加するまで海外に行ったことがなかったため、海外とはどのようなものなのか、生活面での不安もありました。しかし、寮で相部屋になった学生や大学の方々、町の人など様々な人に助けられ楽しく生活ができました。留学前はどこにあるのかさえ分からなかったスロベニアも今ではまた行きたいと思える大好きな地になりました。
　違った研究環境で刺激を受け、研究意欲が向上しただけでなく、言葉が通じない地で生活をするという経験は自分の成長につながったと思います。今回このような機会をいただけたことに感謝しています。

Student report:
I studied abroad at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia for one month through the JoinTECH-Visit Program. My research focused on investigating trends of protein adsorption by growing silver dendrites by energizing a polymer column called Poly HIPE, modifying and functionalizing various compounds with thiol groups in the column. It was an experiment using equipment that I had never used before, so it was very difficult to understand. There were times when I didn’t understand English and felt like giving up, but I had a valuable experience learning how to use equipment and conduct experiments from scratch.
Also, since I had never been abroad before participating in this study abroad program, I was initially worried about what living overseas would be like. However, with the support of many people—such as my dormitory roommates, university staff and students, and local residents—I was able to enjoy my time there. Slovenia, which I did not even know about before studying abroad has now become a favorite destination that I would like to visit again. Not only was I stimulated by a different research environment and able to increase my motivation for research, but I also believe that the experience of living in a place where I did not understand the language contributed greatly to my personal growth. I am truly grateful for this opportunity.
