【学生体験談】
　私はJoinTECH-Visitにより１か月リュブリャナ大学に滞在し、そこで多くの貴重な経験をしました。滞在を受け入れてくださったAles Podgornik教授、並びに研究室のメンバーにはとても感謝しています。研究室ではモノリスカラムの作製や、銀デンドライトの形成、タンパク質吸着容量測定等のカラムの評価などたくさんの経験が出来ました。生化学やタンパク質工学を専攻している自分には知らないことが多く、最初は何もわからない状態でしたが、ポスドクや学生の方々が丁寧に教えていただいたおかげで成長することが出来ました。
　今回の留学を通じて、どんな環境でも積極的に挑戦することの大切さを実感しました。言語や文化、生活スタイルも違う国でバックグラウンドも違う人と一緒に研究することは難しく感じましたが、自分から行動しないと何もできないことを痛感し、不安はありつつも自分から行動を起こすことが出来ました。ポスドクの、「自分で課題を見つけ解決策を考える」という指導のおかげであったと思います。行動を起こすことで、助けが得られ、成果を上げることが出来ました。
　また、スロベニアは治安もよく、非常に住みやすい町でした。街並みもきれいで１か月だけしか滞在できなかったのが非常に残念でした。学生寮での他学生との共同生活は、慣れるまで大変な点もありましたが、お互いの文化や生活スタイルを尊重し合うことが出来ました。

Student report:
Through JoinTECH-Visit Program, I had many valuable experiences during my one-month stay at the University of Ljubljana, I am deeply grateful to Professor Ales Podgornik and all the members of his laboratory for welcoming me. In the lab, I gained hands-on experience in various areas such as the fabrication of monolithic columns, the formation of silver dendrites, and the evaluation of columns through measurements of protein adsorption capacity. Since my major is biochemistry and protein engineering, I initially knew very little about these topics, but thanks to the patient guidance of the postdoctoral researchers and students, I was able to learn a great deal and grow through the experience.
Through this study abroad program, I realized the importance of actively taking on challenges in any environment. Conducting research in a country with a different language, culture, and lifestyle, alongside people with diverse backgrounds, was not easy. However, I learned that nothing would change unless I took the initiative myself. Despite my initial anxiety, I managed to take action, largely thanks to the lab’s mentoring style that encourages students to “identify problems on their own and think of solutions.” By taking initiative, I was able to receive help from others and achieve meaningful results.
Slovenia is also a very safe and comfortable place to live. The cityscape was beautiful, and I truly wish I could have stayed longer than just one month. Although living in a student dormitory and sharing space with others was sometimes challenging at first, it turned out to be a great opportunity to learn to respect and appreciate each other’s cultures and lifestyles.
