Re: Response to Kyoto Prefecture’s State of Emergency Measures (January 14 to February 7)

　On January 14, the government declared a state of emergency in Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, Aichi, Gifu, Fukuoka and Tochigi prefectures regarding the coronavirus infection. Kyoto Prefecture has requested emergency measures such as refraining from unnecessary outings, implementing telework and thorough infection prevention measures at universities.
　In light of the above, Kyoto Institute of Technology has instructed its students, faculty and staff to refrain from non-essential outings and traveling to the areas under state of emergency, to actively work from home, to refrain from social gatherings, and to thoroughly implement measures to prevent infection during extracurricular activities during the state of emergency period, in accordance with Kyoto Prefecture’s request.
　Entrance examinations, face-to-face classes, and regular examinations will be held as scheduled in view of the need to ensure learning opportunities.
　We are continuing our efforts to prevent the spread of the infection and ask all students, faculty and staff to follow the “Kyoto Institute of Technology Manual on Limiting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Transmission” and consistently implement basic infection control measures. We ask that you avoid the “3Cs” (crowded places, close contact settings and closed spaces), maintain social distance from others, wear a mask and wash and disinfect your hands. Also, actively practice the “new lifestyle” (limiting unnecessary contact with people, etc.) in order to protect your health and prevent others from becoming infected.
