Re: Kyoto Prefecture’s Measures to Prevent Resurgence of COVID-19

As of October 21, Kyoto Prefecture has ended its request to eating and drinking establishments to shorten business hours. However, as we are about to enter a season when infectious diseases are likely to spread, and the risk of resurgence of COVID-19 is always lurking, Kyoto Prefecture has established the following basic rules as the “New Normal from October 22nd” and continues to request that universities and other institutions take thorough measures to prevent infection. Therefore, please be aware of the basic rules of Kyoto Prefecture and act with caution.
Kyoto Institute of Technology will be taking the following measures. Your understanding and cooperation for their thorough implementation is greatly appreciated.
An overview of KIT’s current measures can be found on the university’s website:
 https://www.kit.ac.jp/covid-19_summary/
There are no major changes in the measures taken so far except for domestic travel, so please continue to pay attention to infection control measures.

  • Use a combination of HyFlex classes and online classes.
  • To the extent that it does not interfere with the performance of your duties, actively promote teleworking and video conferences.

In addition to the above measures, please continue to follow the “Kyoto Institute of Technology Manual on Limiting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Transmission”.

Furthermore, please keep in mind that the risk of infection is particularly high during eating and drinking occasions. When eating and drinking, please take the following measures to prevent the risk of infection.

  • Keep such events to a maximum of 2 hours in duration.
  • Wear a mask correctly when talking and avoid talking loudly.
  • Limit the number of people to 4 or less per table.
  • If you are eating or drinking in a restaurant, be sure you use a certified restaurant that has infection control measures in place.

We ask for your continued cooperation in following the “Kyoto Institute of Technology Manual on Limiting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Transmission” and in consistently implementing basic infection control measures. Avoid the “3Cs”, maintain social distancing from others, wear a mask and wash and disinfect your hands. Also, actively practice the “new lifestyle” in order to protect your health and prevent others from becoming infected.
