“A short introduction to the electrochemical fundamentals of corrosion and to the main protection mechanisms by coatings”

When using with metallic alloys, one of the major issues is to protect them against corrosion. Corrosion protection can be nowadays achieved with many different methods, but probably the most common is to cover the metallic surface with a protective coating.

“Surface quality of Al alloys: a critical comparison in terms of corrosion protection”

Aluminum alloys are of great industrial interest because of the high mechanical resistance over weight ratio. One of the main problems concerning aluminum alloys is corrosion, in particular in aggressive environments such as sea water.

“A short introduction on wear mechanisms and anti-wear/friction prevention on metals”

After corrosion, the second most common surface degradation problem involving metals is wear. Wear affects all moving parts, resulting in a slow but constant loss of material and chemical modification of the surfaces.
